Patagonia Itinerary

by Jenn

I should say ‘itineraries’ for Patagonia.  It is such a massive region, at just over 400,000 sq mi/1M sq km, it is double the size of Spain!  And it spans across southern Argentina and Chile so you really need to split it up into a few trips.  After my trip, where I went to see the region’s highlights, Torres del Paine National Park in Chile and Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina, I realized it would’ve been better to try to see each part separately.  The distances and border crossing takes up so much time (an entire day to cross the border!) so it’s definitely worth sticking to one country at a time.  if I could do it again I would do just that and add more stops on each trip.  This way you can also see more of each part as well instead of just doing the region’s highlights.

The landscapes of this region are breathtaking and the pictures really don’t do them justice.  They range from the glacial ice fields to islands and fjords so you can really see so much different terrain and wildlife while exploring down here.  The best way to see the majority of these amazing views is by hiking.  This itinerary is centered around just that.  Check out my blog posts for more in depth info.
